Georgetown mission trip to Belize helps 32 families and aid to the Central Christian School

 

Bettye Mason of Georgetown, who owns BM Christian Travel LLC, has been a professional travel agent

for more than 32 years and has led mission trips to struggling countries for more than 20 years.

​

Ms. Mason, founder and President of Faith and Journeys Mission International , partnered with Faith in

the Word Ministry in Georgetown (now an established 501C-3) for another successful mission trip in

December 2019 to Belize, Central America. Not only did they provide food vouchers to families up to as

much as $200 per family, they also provided back packs, book bags, school supplies as well as tablets

and speakers to be utilized in the classrooms, and 25 dresses for the girls which were tailored and

donated by Faith in the Word as well as a crocheted blanket.

On our last mission we actually went to the grocery store and shopped for the families, this time we

purchased food vouchers in advance and distributed them to the families upon our arrival. This gave us

an opportunity to actually meet the families one-on-one that we were sponsoring which made it more

personal and exciting to put faces along with names. Vouchers were purchased through donations from

our group and others via donations. Upon our arrival, the children were in worship service as every

school there has a church on site. The children were very vibrant in their worship. It was obvious that it

was not just a routine for them but they truly enjoyed this part of their school day.

Apostle “James” and Gloria King of Faith in the Word Ministry of Georgetown are the Directors of Faith

and Journey’s Mission International . Following the children’s worship service, Apostle King gave a word

of encouragement to the children and their families. Then all of the children in attendance were prayed

for as well as teachers and some of the parents.

​

In addition to the mission in Belize, Faith and Journeys also visited Cozumel Mexico where they provided

hygiene products for several families. The families were very excited upon receiving their supplies. The

area in which they live is a very secluded area that is hard to reach because of the conditions of the

roads there.

​

We not only serve other countries but we also take care of home as well. Earlier in the year we held a

May Day Outreach Feast, an undertaking by Evangelist Debra Prior, Vice President of FJMI. At this event

different ministers and members from Faith in the word Ministry shared some of their journeys in life

and gave words of encouragement. There were also fun, games, prizes, fellowship, and free food

supplied to the community. Faith in the Word Ministry also had its first season as a food distribution

post for the free lunch program provided by the Georgetown County School District.

We were also blessed with donations from Living Word Christian Center of Georgetown, SC with food

vouchers as well as other gifts. Apostle “Mack” Lewis (First Lady Jacquelyn) is the Founder and Pastor. A

few of our other donors were: Mrs. Brooks Hamilton of Georgetown, Clay and Pat Johnston as well as

Lisa and Carlos Evans of Debordieu just to name a few. We thank all who made donations to help us in

our success.

Upon interview, Founder Bettye Mason states that “As we continued to serve in our local cities with

donating several times a year to Helping Hands, the Salvation Army and Good Will, our hearts are

passive in GOD’S GLORY AND THE BLESSING OF THE PEOPLE LOCALLY AND ABROAD.

​

When interviewing with Directors Apostle “James” and Prophetess Gloria King, their summary of the

mission efforts are found in their mission statement for the Body of Christ as a whole. “We encourage

those who are hurt, broken, confused, depressed, oppressed, wounded and unsaved to come and find

help, encouragement, peace and understanding of God’s real love”.

Margie Geathers, Head Advisor of Faith and Journey’s along with Apostle “Mack” and First Lady

Jacquelyn Lewis states that, “it is our goal to make sure people that are hurting and in lack know that

they are not forgotten and that they are not alone in their going through. So by our giving, loving and

caring we do not desire to be seen or heard but our desire is that the recipients of our giving understand

and see God and not us. It is our hope that they understand that God is answering their prayers through

us and it is not us ourselves. These missions are not done by our power or our might but by His Spirit. So

we thank Him for our success in all that we do and for those that have opened their hearts to assist us

through their donations, contributions and time”.
